Hayabusa – Evil is not that laid back [Single]
When I first check out the press info on Hayabusa, influences and similar artists included the likes of Pendulum, Biffy, Oceansize and Tool (of whom I am a massive fan). If the band could produce a song encompassing all of the elements from the aforementioned artists, they would certainly set themselves up to achieve great things in the future. So, apprehensive and intrigued, I played their new single ‘Evil is not that laid back’ at more a less full volume. I have to say, it is not your average three minute blast of noise; instead utilising almost every second of five minutes to take the listener on a journey through a range of rock genres. Musically, this band have it made. They do bring the power of Tool, the synth and effects expression of Pendulum, the vocal and melodic passages from Biffy and Oceansize, BUT most importantly, this is the Hayabusa trademark sound and something which sees them at the forefront of new musical exploration. A great single and a promising sign for their future.
