I went to the cinema to watch this and enjoyed it a lot. 3D was good overall, storyline worked, Johnny Depp is as good as ever in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow; I only feel that it was not as good a the first one, which was better than the second which was better than the third (First > Second > Third > Fourth).

I sort of hope there will be another because I love this saga, but at the same time it seems to have run its course. As expected this film has done well and will continue to do so but the idea has run dry now; as seen in the third there is deception and quirkiness and overall it still works, however the new characters are not as good as the ones they replaced.

Elizabeth Swan (Keira Knightley) was missed; obviously with her husband out of the picture there was absolutely no point in her returning, but the new female lead was not as good, although still carrying on similar annoying traits.

Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) was also missed; he was portrayed brilliantly and was replaced by a religious guy who was only really there to give the mermaid more of a point.

The general crew from the first 3 were also not included other than Mr Gibbs. You don’t really think it will make a difference, but overall I believe that the crew that were aboard the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchmen were relatable and there for a reason; this new crew were just there because the ship needs a crew.

My final point is that the film seemed rushed and unexplained, and maybe should have been split into two like Dead Man's Chest and At Worlds End. You never really know if Jack has been to the fountain before and the whole venture there seems to be over in a matter of moments. Even the final battle was a hell of a lot shorter than what we have seen in the previous movies.

Still, this is just me being overly critical of a good film. Worth a watch for any fan of the series and for any newcomer.
